There are two key parts that move the vast majority of my nonfiction: heart & preservation. I'm a deeper dive writer, which probably hasn't helped my career as far as numbers are concerned, but you have to honor your own path in this life. Artists who have not only honored but crafted brand new paths are my number one crushes, which is absolutely where Ruth White comes in.
In recent years, electronic female pioneers have gotten more coverage and respect, but out of that small but mighty tribe, many writers and documentarians tend to leave out White, which is a huge fallacy. This article is just a delve of an overview of this transcendently great artist, but if it gets new ears and minds to White and her work, then mission accomplished.
